It can be difficult to find our next read. You've likely got a long list of classics you've been meaning to read and sporadic messages from friends giving you their recommendations, but sometimes the best place to look can simply be the current bestselling list. 

It allows for an insight into what books have currently got people buzzing, the highly anticipated releases and perhaps some hidden gems.

But with some selections that haven’t been recently released in the mix, including a novel by crime writer Freida McFadden, the 2025 bestselling list makes for an interesting one. 

Here are the top 10 bestselling books of 2025 so far.

10. Atomic Habits by James Clear

Released in 2018, James Clear's Atomic Habits is a nonfiction book detailing the best way to create new habits and get 1% better every day. The self-help book has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, and many people have described it as life-changing. 

9. Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

It's been a big year for Rebecca Yarros, the adult romantic fantasy writer's Empyrean series has taken the book world by storm, and she is dominating the charts. Iron Flame is the second book in the series, which will comprise five books in total, and follows Violet as she begins using the abilities she learned during Threshing at Basgiath War College in the first instalment. 

8. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

Fourth Wing is the first book of the Empyrean series. The book's synopsis centres on the journey of Violet Sorrengail. She has been forced by her mother, General Sorrengail, to join the Basgiath War College and therefore become a dragon rider in the kingdom of Navarre. The book has seen significant acclaim, and that is reflected in this list.

7. The Housemaid by Freida McFadden 

Freida McFadden's thriller, which was released in 2022, has made a resurgence on this year's bestselling list. Her novel achieved notable success, it became a bestseller, topping Amazon UK’s list and is currently being made into a movie, starring Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar. 

6. The Crash by Freida McFadden

McFadden's book, released at the beginning of the year, also achieves a spot on the 2025 bestsellers list. The Crash is a psychological thriller that follows an eight-month pregnant woman as she gets lost in a blizzard and is taken in by a mysterious couple, and is in grave danger. 

5. Onyx Storm (Standard Edition) by Rebecca Yarros

The third instalment of Yarros’ Empyrean series is an incredible follow-up to the first two books mentioned above, Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. In the middle marker in what will be a five-part series, we see Violet, now 18 months into her time at Basgiath War College, but the battle has truly begun. 

4. Dog Man: Big Jim Begins by Dav Pilkey

Dav Pilkey's graphic novel fiction has proved a hit amongst readers as a spinoff to the Captain Underpants series. The book details the origins of the much-loved Dog Man characters. It's the 13th instalment in the Dog Man series from American author and illustrator Dav Pilkey.

3. The Let Them theory by Mel Robbins 

The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins is a self-help concept that revolves around what you can control and releasing the energy spent thinking about external factors and other people's actions. The core idea is to rewire the way we think about our limitations versus our ability to focus on our own goals, happiness, and well-being. Readers have described the bestselling book as groundbreaking.

2. Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins 

Suzanne Collins' most recent Hunger Games instalment has been highly anticipated. It follows the 50th annual Hunger Games, and this time, Haymitch Abernathy’s name was called. Once the Games begin, he realises he’s been set up to fail, but there’s something in him that wants to fight. The book's movie adaptation is set to begin in July 2025.

1. Onyx Storm (Deluxe Limited Edition) by Rebecca Yarros 

The deluxe version of the book, as mentioned above, is the top of Goodreads' most popular books of 2025 list. The series has garnered a huge fandom, and that has not gone unnoticed, as it has been announced that it will be adapted into a TV show via Amazon's MGM Studios, with Michael B. Jordan's production company Outlier Society.
