The UK’s largest restaurant that cost £3m to build and can serves 1,000 people

The largest restaurant in the UK is so vast that diners are handed a map on arrival and eat alongside 1,000 other people. What's become somewhat of an institution in Bristol - especially among cash-strapped students - has now started making the rounds online for its insanely large selection of dishes.

Diners at Za Za Bazaar can choose between 300 different dishes from across the world in one sitting, and although it was inspired by the night markets in Asia, customers can try cuisines from five continents. Construction lasted thirteen weeks on the harbourside restaurant, which reportedly cost £3 million, and when it opened in 2011, it eclipsed Croydon's Cosmo restaurant as the biggest restaurant in the UK, which seats 800.

Diners can watch chefs prepare fresh tacos, head to the dessert station to make soft-serve ice cream, or even build their own nachos at the Tex-Mex station.

Its website says: "The Za Za Bazaar is like a passport to the world of food based in the Harbourside of Bristol!"

Travel blogger, @girlvsglobe, filmed her visit where she feasted on seafood, curries, sushi, freshly made tacos, ice cream and Crème Brûlée.

After going viral, viewers shared their own experiences, with one saying: "I love Za Za Bazaar I go there very often because the food and service is soooo good, don't even get me started on the dessert station."

Although one local didn't agree, adding: "So much more to see in Bristol, even food wise for more authentic places than this buffet.. long time Bristolian who's not been to Za Za Bazaar for over a decade x"

Other diners said that even though they didn't find the food completely authentic, it was "one of the best" world buffets.

One said: "Haven’t been to zaza since I was a student 10 years ago, but used to love going there. The food is never gonna be as good quality as a restaurant that offers a specific cuisine, but as far as multi-cuisine buffets go, it’s the best one I’ve been to by far."

Prices start at £13.99 for full-price adults during weekdays.
