F1 LIVE: Lewis Hamilton demands FIA talks as Max Verstappen absent | F1 | Sport

Lewis Hamilton has called for drivers to have more active conversations with the FIA.

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has received backlash for his policies surrounding swearing, which he is open to adjusting, but Hamilton thinks that formal discussions between drivers and the governing body could be key.

“Ultimately, the GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers’ Association) is very unified. We want to be able to work closely with the FIA,” he said.

“Of course, we’ve faced a bit of an uphill challenge in that communication over time. Ultimately we don’t hold a power seat at the table and that needs to change in my opinion.

"If you look at other sports that have unions that may be something that comes into play at some stage.

“We don’t want to control things, we just want to collaborate with them more and have our voices heard.”
