Princess Charlotte's birthday celebration 'tinged with sadness' for relatable reason | Royal | News

Princess Charlotte's 10th birthday celebrations will likely be "tinged with sadness'" for a very relatable reason, according to one royal expert. The Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed their second child - and only daughter - on May 2, 2015.

With Charlotte reaching double digits, royal expert Phil Dampier has said the Kate and William will likely be sad about how fast "time flies by" - especially when it comes to their three children growing older. He told the Express: "Like all parents, William and Catherine will delight in Charlotte growing into a teenager and fine young woman, but that is always tinged with a feeling that time flies by and she won't be a child for much longer.

"They are bound to feel emotional after the roller coaster they have been on because of Kate’s health, and that of the King, but the feeling will be one of joy and celebration."

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana - sister to Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 7, - was born at 8.34am at St Mary's Hospital in London.

A little over 12 hours after Kate was first admitted to hospital, the royal couple and their newborn daughter appeared on the steps of the private Lindo Wing.

Appearing overjoyed with the little bundle in her arms, Kate dressed in a yellow Jenny Packham dress, smiled and waved to the crowds as she posed for photographs with William.

In a Kensington Palace statement released after her birth, the couple thanked "everyone for their warm wishes" and praised hospital staff for "the care and treatment they have all received".

While delivering a speech at a charity event back in 2017, she made the very relatable comment about motherhood.

She said: "Nothing can really prepare you for the sheer overwhelming experience of what it means to become a mother.

"It is full of complex emotions of joy, exhaustion, love and worry, all mixed together."
