Greggs adds 'unreal' new item to 1,750 stores - full list of counties![]() Greggs will launch an "unreal" new item across the UK after leaving customers crying out for more during a trial in Manchester. The bakery chain will roll out its viral mac and cheese at around two-thirds of its 2,600 branches by the end of July. More than 1,750 locations will offer the creamy pasta made with cheddar and red Leicester cheese and topped with a crunchy ciabatta crumb. Following the dish's success in 10 Manchester stores last November, when customers described it as "unreal", "incredible", and "stunning", the bakery giant expanded it to 300 bakeries. Greggs' latest announcement confirms it will be on the summer menu of 1,750 stores in England, Wales and Scotland from £4.55, or £5.75 as part of a meal deal with a drink. Greggs described it as a "delicious pasta smothered in a rich, creamy cheese sauce, topped with a blend of Cheddar and Red Leicester cheese", with a "crunchy layer of ciabatta breadcrumbs and a sprinkle of parsley". It added the "warm box of gooey, crispy and oh-so-tasty comfort food" is baked fresh in store every day. The bakery's social media launch went viral with more than three million views, captioned "New love triangle just dropped. You, Greggs, Mac & Cheese". Foodies rushed to social media to rave about the cheesy dish, with one reporting: "Tried it a few days ago and omg it is great. Wowie." Another commented: "My jaw dropped. I'm running to Greggs first thing tomorrow". One person wrote, "Wowzers, this looks stunning", while another added, "this looks unreal". However, not everyone was as satisfied with the taste or price, with one customer writing: "It's absolutely disgusting had it yesterday! £4.55 as well it was all stuck together slip."
