UK storm maps show deluge of rain battering most of England and Scotland - check your area | Weather | News

UK storm maps predict a wave of heavy rain battering the UK in May. WXCharts has forecast that the wet weather will hit the country on May 7, bringing with it high winds and low temperatures.

Rain will fall from Stirling to Southampton, covering much of England and Scotland, including Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Norwich, London, and Brighton. All of Northern Ireland will also be covered. Areas which will avoid rain include the southwest of England (Exeter, Plymouth), the south of Wales (Cardiff, Aberystwyth), and the north of Scotland (Inverness, Aberdeen, Wick).

The Met Office said of the period: “Following a widely fine and very warm spell through the week, temperatures are most likely to return back closer to average from the north during Thursday and Friday.

“Whilst a little rain is possible during this transition, most areas remaining largely dry. Largely fine but cooler conditions are then most likely over the weekend. However, likely cloudier and breezier at times across some northern areas with a chance of rain.

“Into the following week, conditions will probably turn more changeable overall, with dry, settled periods interspersed with some spells of wetter weather. This will bring some showers or longer spells of rain at times, which could be heavy and thundery in places. Temperatures will likely be around average.”

Tonight:

The north and west of Scotland will see outbreaks of rain overnight. Mostly dry but cloudy and breezy across other northern areas. Clear spells with patchy fog and frost elsewhere.

Monday:

Staying rather cloudy in the north with further rain, chiefly across the north and west of Scotland. Otherwise dry with fog and frost clearing to leave plenty of warm sunshine.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Patchy rain in the north initially, then dry and settled on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some very warm sunshine. A band of cloud introducing cooler air from the north on Thursday.
