One of Steven Spielberg's best movies is on ITV tonight | Films | Entertainment

Steven Spielberg’s movie repertoire knows no bounds. He has undoubtedly created some of the biggest and most popular movies of all time, Jaws, E.T. and Schindler's List, to mention a few.

Tonight, viewers are being treated to one of the classics as Jurassic Park is on ITV4 at 8:30pm with the second installment The Lost World: Jurassic Park showing on ITV4 tomorrow at 5:25pm followed by the third part in the trilogy Jurassic Park III on ITV4 at 8:25pm on Sunday.

Based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park is Steven Spielberg’s highest grossing film to date, with it being the only one to cross over into the billion dollar threshold, E.T. is the second-highest grossing.

The combination of groundbreaking CGI and practical effects has given the film the ability to inspire, terrify and entertain audiences of all ages simultaneously. It perfectly showcases Spielberg's talents, from his underrated mastery of suspense to his flavour for creative action.

Its synopsis from IMDb reads: “An industrialist invites some experts to visit his theme park of cloned dinosaurs. After a power failure, the creatures run loose, putting everyone's lives, including his grandchildren's, in danger.”

The film starry cast includes Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough.

The film won 20 awards with three of those being Academy Awards, including the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

Since the original Jurassic Park movie there have been a further five films added to its collection. After the original trilogy then came the Jurassic World series and another film, titled Jurassic World Rebirth, currently in the works.

There have also been two short films and TV series made in the years since the movie was first released.
