PGA Tour star suspended and worried career could be over | Golf | Sport

PGA Tour star Wesley Bryan has been suspended for his involvement in a LIV Golf event in March. The 35-year-old took part in The Duels, a YouTube match filmed at the Saudi-backed organisation's tournament in Miami.

The match offered a £191,000 purse to the winners. The team of George Bryan and Sergio Garcia won in a playoff over Bubba Watson and Luke Kwo, with two million viewers watching on Grant Horvat's YouTube channel alone. Bryan was reportedly placed on probation by the PGA the following day, and has now been suspended indefinitely.

Speaking at the Corales Puntacana Championship, where Bryan was runner-up to Billy Horschel in 2024, Bryan admitted he feared his career could now be over.

"For the last eight or nine years, the opportunities have been amazing," he said. "I'm extremely grateful to the (PGA) Tour for that. I don't want this to be the end of my professional golf career."

Despite his ban, Bryan has opted to travel to the Puntacana Resort with his family. He is sharing a rental home with PGA Tour member Ben Martin and his family and he explained his decision to still come to the Dominican Republic.

"We had this vacation planned for months, so I decided we would still come down,” he added. “It's been a long time since we had a family vacation where golf wasn't involved.”

Bryan turned professional in 2012 and has one win on the PGA Tour at the 2017 RBC Heritage. The American notably held off current European Ryder CUp captain Luke Donald in a victory that earned him a spot at the Masters the following year.

He's played in all four major championship, although hs failed to make the cut in any of them. Despite his career now appearing in the balance, the former world No.36 insists he din't rue his involvement in Miami.

No, I don't have regrets. That video is one of the most powerful videos in YouTube golf," he argued. "We are going to continue to support Grant and grow the game through YouTube."
