Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered release date 'leaked' and it's great news for Xbox fans | Gaming | Entertainment

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion release date appears to have been leaked by unlikely source. The long-rumoured Oblivion remake has reportedly been given an April 21 release date. As you can see from the tweet below, the release date was seemingly leaked by Xbox Support Staff.

Responding to a question about Oblivion coming to Xbox Cloud Gaming, a Support Staff member is claimed to have replied: "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is set to release on April 21, 2025."

This backs up the previous claim that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will launch at some point next week.

Better yet, the hotly anticipated remaster will seemingly be available as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass.

While Microsoft is yet to officially announce the Oblivion remaster, all signs point towards an imminent release.

Images from the game were leaked on the website of Oblivion Remastered developer Virtuous.

The images showed before and after screenshots from the original game and the Unreal Engine 5 developed remaster.

Needless to say, the new and improved version features lots of graphical flourishes, including more detailed locations, realistic lighting and upgraded character models.

The game is also said to contain various quality of life upgrades, such as a new blocking system, a new stamina management system, and refined archery.

The remaster is believed to be coming to PS5 and PC, and will contain the downloadable content from the original game.

The original game helped to put the Elder Scrolls series on the map, scoring an impressive 94% on Metacritic when it launched nearly 20 years ago.

It also contains one of gaming's most iconic moments, as players exit the sewers and step into the Oblivion's stunning open world for the first time.

Bethesda explains more: "Step inside the most richly detailed and vibrant game-world ever created. Oblivion is the latest chapter in the epic Elder Scrolls saga.

"With a powerful combination of freeform gameplay and unprecedented graphics, you can unravel the main quest at your own pace or explore the vast world and find your own challenges."
