Celebre D'Allen dies days after collapsing during 2025 Grand National | Racing | Sport![]() Celebre D’Allen’s 'heartbroken' trainers have confirmed the horse’s death days after he fell in the Grand National. The horse was one of two to collapse during the headline Aintree race. Celebre D'Allen was pulled up by his jockey Micheal Nolan, who later received a 10-day suspension for continuing to ride when the horse clearly had no more to give. The 13-year-old then collapsed, prompting urgent veterinary attention on the course. He later walked into a horse box but has now died after his condition 'deteriorated significantly' on Monday night. Trainers Philip Hobbs and Johnson White said: "We’re heartbroken to share that Celebre D’Allen has passed away. He received the very best treatment by the veterinary teams and was improving. However, he deteriorated significantly last night and could not be saved. He was a wonderful horse and we will all miss him greatly." Celebre D'Allen was reported to have suffered from heatstroke and was kept at Aintree overnight following the Grand National. However, his trainers initially believed that his condition was improving. On Sunday, co-trainer White said: “He’s had his stay at Aintree and I’ve seen videos of him this morning looking much brighter in himself and he’s been out for a pick of grass. The vets have seen him and he’s probably going to travel to a livery yard close to Aintree later today. It’s positive news and he’s going the right way. “In the heat of the moment, I haven’t really spoken to the vets about what it really is, but it was probably a combination of the heat and everything. The main thing now is he’s back on the right track. It’s great for us that it looks like he’s going to be OK.” The British Horseracing Authority confirmed that jockey Nolan had been suspended for 10 days for continuing to ride a horse that was clearly struggling. The stewards' report read: "An inquiry was held to consider whether Micheal Nolan, the rider of CELEBRE D'ALLEN (FR), had continued in the race when the horse appeared to have no more to give and was clearly losing ground after the second-last fence. The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed, and recordings of the incident were viewed. The rider was suspended for 10 days." Broadway Boy also fell over the 25th hurdle, suffering a horror landing that saw him tumble forward onto his face. Like Celebre D'Allen, Broadway Boy received lengthy medical care after the race and later walked into a horse ambulance. Source link Posted: 2025-04-08 11:24:15 |
