There's nothing quite as gratifying as giving your windows a thorough clean. This chore makes your home appear brighter and cleaner but, sadly, it's not always straightforward.

Fingerprints, streaks and grime can all show up rather easily on your windows and it seems like no amount of wiping can keep them pristine for long.

Windows can be some of the most challenging things to clean due to the materials they are made from, their location and the type of dirt they attract. For instance, if you have tall or particularly high windows that are difficult to reach it becomes hard to achieve a streak-free clean. The glass can also become streaky if inappropriate products are used or if you attempt to clean the window in direct sunlight when the glass is warm.

For an effective homemade solution to clean windows try concocting a vinegar and water solution and cleaning with a microfibre cloth on a cloudy day to prevent rapid drying.
