Beatles fans think actress should have been cast as one of Fab Four | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Fans of the upcoming biopics films of The Beatles are calling on the cast to be replaced by one actress in particular.

A mixed reaction to the recent line-up announcement for the four Beatles movies, set for release in 2028, saw many call for one star to take over one of the roles.

The Beatles will see Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan, and Joseph Quinn, portray Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison respectively.

But those who were underwhelmed by the casting have called for an actress to don a wig and portray one of The Beatles.

Some have gone as far to suggest the actress in question should portray all four of the band, rather than the official cast.

One user wrote: "Why couldn’t they let Jodie Comer play all four Beatles." Another added: "The idea of Jodie Comer in drag playing all four Beatles in all four biopics."

A third wrote: "Need Jodie Comer to pull a Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan and play a Beatle." Blanchett received heaps of praise for her portrayal of the legendary songwriter in 2007's I'm Not There, which also had Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, and Richard Gere portray Dylan.

Some have suggested Comer could "easily play Paul [McCartney]" and that her Liverpudlian roots would be a far better fit than the current cast.

In an interview alongside Austin Butler last year, Comer called The Beatles the greatest band of all time. Some fans have suggested Comer go on to play all four Beatles in a similar style to her one-woman show, Prima Facie.

They suggested: "For those four new Sam Mendes Beatles films they should cast Jodie Comer to play all four but in a Prima Facie style one women show."

Mendes, who will direct all four biopics, said: "The Beatles changed my understanding of music. I’ve been trying to make a movie about them for years. We’re not just making one film about the Beatles – we’re making four.

"Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply." Beatles member Ringo Starr has since praised the ambitious project, saying the plan to film four films is "madness".

He said the "madness of making four movies at the same time … there’ll be Beatles in mine around when I joined, and there’ll be Beatles in Paul’s. We’ll all be there."

Some were far more positive about the casting of The Beatles, with one user writing: "Stop complaining about the casting for The Beatles biopic. I think they look great."

Another added: "Seen a lot of moaning about the Beatles film cast. It’s not a lookalike competition! As long as there is some resemblance and can act the part I’m happy. That, a good script, interesting idea and quality director are what’s really needed for a great biopic."
