Nintendo also confirmed earlier rumours that there will be three types of games available for the Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 games are titles that are only playable on the new Nintendo console. This includes the aforementioned Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong.

Then there are Nintendo Switch Backwards Compatible games, which are titles that can be played on both the Switch 2 and original Switch.

Finally - and confirming earlier reports - Nintendo announced a slew of Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition games.

These are titles that are available on the original Switch, but have been upgraded for the Switch 2.

Upgrades mainly consist of improved visuals and smoother frame-rates, but also include bonus features and game modes.

As predicted, this includes the likes of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which will boast superior visuals on the Switch 2, as well as mouse support via the new JoyCon controllers.
