Carol Kirkwood's quiet life in market town where homes fetch £561,000

Carol Kirkwood has been a familiar face on British television for many years, delivering weather forecasts on BBC Breakfast. Born in Morar, Inverness-shire, the 62-year-old is one of eight siblings. She joined the ranks of BBC News in 1998 as a weather presenter after receiving training at the Met Office.

Since then, she has featured across BBC Weather's broadcasts on both radio and television. Over time, Carol has made guest appearances on several shows including CBBC's Hacker Time, Would I Lie to You? and Hollyoaks.

In 2015, she showcased her dance skills in the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing, finishing in 10th place overall.

Off-screen, Carol leads a quiet life with her husband Steve Randall. She announced her engagement live on BBC Breakfast from the Chelsea Flower Show in 2022. The couple got married at Cliveden in Buckinghamshire in December 2023.

She was previously wedded to Jimmy Kirkwood; their marriage ended in divorce in 2008.

The BBC presenter is believed to reside with Steve in Maidenhead, a market town in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in the county of Berkshire.

While Carol keeps her personal life under wraps, she did reveal to Prima Magazine in 2021 that Steve "always" prepares her a cup of tea before she heads off to work at 2.45am.

Maidenhead, which is approximately 30 minutes from London by train, is a popular choice among commuters.

The town boasts an abundance of green parks and leisure facilities and is one of the UK's most affluent areas. It's no surprise then that the average house price surpasses half a million pounds.

In fact, according to Rightmove, the overall average price of properties in Maidenhead over the past year was £561,216.

Detached properties made up the majority of sales in Maidenhead during the last year, selling at an average price of £877,868.

Flats fetched an average of £312,523, while semi-detached properties sold for an average of £557,680.

Overall, the historical sold prices in Maidenhead over the last year were 6% up on the previous year and similar to the 2022 peak of £566,390.
