Steve McQueen World War 2 films ranked – King of Cool was jailed on set of No 1 | Films | Entertainment

Oscar-winning director Sir Steve McQueen helmed Blitz and Occupied City, but his World War 2 films are not to be confused with the ones starring Hollywood’s original Steve McQueen, who would have been 95 today. The movie legend, who died aged 50 in 1980, was best known for The Great Escape, but it wasn’t his only film set during the Second World War. In real life, he was too young to see combat in the fight against Hitler, but was enlisted into the Marines in 1947. Serving in the Pacific at a Japanese military base, the future star was known for rebellious behaviour, including going AWOL. Here are his World War 2 films ranked according to fans on IMDb and it turns out he was actually jailed on the set of No 1.
