Supermarkets pull popular product from shelves as shoppers warned of contamination

A supermarket has pulled a popular burger brand from the shelves after fears of contamination.

Hogan’s Farm Turkey Burgers are being recalled because they contain undeclared sulphur dioxide, which could pose a health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide or sulphites.

The 400g product is sold in Dunnes stores in Northern Ireland only. Affected packs have the use by dates of March 25, 26 and 28 of this year.

If you bought this product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store you purchased it from for a full refund. Point of sale notices will be posted in all retail stores selling this product.

Allergy alerts occur when a food product has a problem which means it should not be sold. The product might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return it).

Sometimes, foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if they pose a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA issues an Allergy Alert.

This comes after Rude Health issued a recall for its Chocolate Crunch Granola due to a possible insect infestation.

The Rude Health Chocolate Crunch Granola recall affects 400g packs with batch code PD24102024 and a best-before date of October 24, 2025.

The FSA warned the product "might contain insects". Rude Health products are sold at multiple retailers including Amazon, Ocado, Holland & Barrett, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Waitrose, Tesco and Abel & Cole.

Amazon, Tesco and Ocado currently stock the Chocolate Crunch Granola, though none have confirmed stocking the specific recalled batch.

Customers who have purchased the affected granola are advised not to consume it. The product can be returned to the store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.
