Elvis Presley was 'intimidated' by The Beatles for one particular reason | Music | Entertainment

It was 60 years ago this August when Elvis Presley invited The Beatles over to his LA pad.

The Fab Four grew up in the 1950s listening to the King of Rock and Roll, with John Lennon admitting that “before Elvis there was nothing” and that there would be no Beatles without him.

Yet in 1965, The Beatles were on top of the world and Elvis’ stardom had somewhat faded as he churned out naff romcom after another.

According to his stepbrother and Memphis Mafia member David Stanley, before his live music comeback, the King had mixed feelings about the band.

Speaking exclusively with Daily Express, Elvis’ confidant told us: “They were more impressed than he was. Elvis was Elvis, but here comes the new kid in town. He had no reason to be intimidated. But when you talk about the Beatles, they're the greatest band in the world. I mean, the songs that these guys wrote, the music they produced… He wasn't intimidated, but it did cross his mind, ‘here’s my competition’. Yet the King’s former bodyguard admitted there was one particular way Elvis was, in fact, “intimated” by John, Paul, George and Ringo.
