Avatar 3 first reactions emotionally overwhelming ‘Left weeping for four hours’ | Films | Entertainment

Three years on from Avatar: The Way of Water and the next instalment in James Cameron’s mammoth franchise is set to hit cinemas this December.

The multi-billion dollar films are currently the first and third highest-grossing films of all time and Avatar 3 is expected to make similar waves at the global box office come Christmas.

Little is known plot-wise about the sequel except that it’s called Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Nevertheless, an early cut has been viewed by Cameron’s wife, Suzy, who had an overwhelmingly emotional reaction to the film – making some fans wonder if a big character will kick the bucket.

Speaking with Empire, Cameron said: “My wife watched the whole thing from end to end — she had kept herself away from it and I wasn’t showing her bits and pieces as we went along. This was December 22nd. She bawled for four hours.”

He then tried to get some feedback from her, but she couldn’t stop weeping.

Cameron added: “She kept trying to get her s*** back together so she could tell me specific reactions, and then she’d just tear up and start crying again. Finally, I’m like, ‘Honey, I’ve got to go to bed. Sorry, we’ll talk about it some other time’”.

Avatar: Fire and Ash hits UK cinemas on December 19, 2025.
