Brits estimate the annual salary of a mum - and it's a huge amount

Would you recognise the job role of 'Mum' if you only saw the description?

A recent survey of 2,000 adults revealed that Brits believe the role of 'Mum' should command an annual salary of over £83,500.

However, a staggering seven out of ten people confessed they would struggle to identify the role of a 'Mum' if it were presented to them as a job description. This is primarily because the job involves an overwhelming number of skills that are challenging to summarise.

Key skills suggested for a mum's CV included proficiency in multitasking under pressure, expertise in providing emotional support and comfort, and adeptness at managing household schedules and calendars.

Experiences such as the ability to delegate and think creatively were also listed. Other key skills of mums, according to those surveyed, included experience in crisis management, being a pro at finding lost items, and being a specialist in stain removal.

A spokesperson for Funky Pigeon, which conducted the research ahead of Mother's Day, said: "What is clear is that respondents certainly value mums and everything they do.

"Looking at what experience they'd add to the CV of a mum, it's so wide and varied it really showcases everything they do for us.

"However, the research has also shown that it can be easy at times to forget how much they do and show our appreciation."

Eight out of ten people view the role of a mum as being a 'real-life superhero', with 68% believing they're not given enough credit. Meanwhile, 75% believe Mother's Day is the perfect time to show your mum how much you care.

Over a third confessed to not telling their own mum enough how much they appreciate them, with 17% admitting to making little-to-no effort on Mother's Day.

When asked what constitutes 'enough effort', 69% said buying a present, while 55% said sending a heartfelt card would suffice. For 16%, chocolates and a card from a petrol station were deemed sufficient with 19% confessing they have forgotten to make an effort in the past.

A spokesperson from Funky Pigeon commented: "Thankfully, most people lucky enough to have a relationship with their mum make it known how much they care. A card is often seen as the bare minimum on their special day and it feels a special, personalised and heartfelt card can go a long way to making them feel loved."
