Why Emma Raducanu deleted her Instagram account as drastic action explained | Tennis | Sport

After losing to Moyuka Uchijima in Indian Wells, Raducanu said the Dubai incident wasn't on her mind. "I didn't have what happened in Dubai in my head at all today," she explained.

"I think, if anything, like a bit of a lack of preparation on the tennis court, playing someone who played pretty good in these conditions, I mean, extremely awkward in the wind here.

"But I think it depends what sorts of frame of mind you're in. I think all the players will say, you know, if they're feeling good, like, it's great. If they're not, like, it can be more difficult and challenging.

"You have to just overcome whatever hurdles that come your way and just keep going forward."

She has also been called up for the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers next month in the Netherlands next month along with Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Harriet Dart and doubles No.1 Olivia Nicholls.

Karal will climb to a career-high ranking - and only three places behind Raducanu - after reaching the last 16 of a WTA 1000 for the first time at Indian Wells.

And the British No.3 is now set to gain automatic entry to Wimbledon for the first time after being outside the top 250 a year ago.

The lucky loser won three main draw matches in Californian - including beating Brazilian No. 16 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia - before losing 6-1 6-2 to world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka.

"I was in a lot of the games and I think I had her rattled at a few points," said Kartal.

"I'm disappointed to be out of the tournament but I have made huge strides from this time last year."
