Commonwealth Day LIVE: Princess Kate joins King Charles and royals for poignant service | Royal | News

King Charles has arrived in central London to lead the Royal Family and the nation at a very poignant service to mark the 76th Commonwealth Day. The King, alongside Queen Camilla, joined the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and a 2,000-strong congregation at Westminster Abbey to mark this year's event, which has the theme of "Together We Thrive", which celebrates the "enduring spirit of the Commonwealth family". Last year, both Charles and Princess Kate missed the commemorations after they were diagnosed with cancer.

In this year's Commonwealth Day message, the King, who is head of the family of 56 nations, will say that restoring the "disrupted harmony of our entire planet" is the most "important" task facing humanity, while he also remembered the "sacrifice and selflessness" of Commonwealth forces who answered the call to fight with Britain and her allies. After the ceremony, the King will launch the inaugural King's Baton Relay at Buckingham Palace, officially starting the countdown to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Then this evening the King and Queen will attend the annual Commonwealth Day reception.
