Al Pacino unveils his favourite movie role of all time ‘Nothing touches it’ | Films | Entertainment

Al Pacino has been acting on the big screen for almost 60 years and across the decades has played some hugely iconic roles.

The Oscar-winner was recently at a special 50th anniversary screening of 1975’s Dog Day Afternoon.

Taking place in Santa Monica, California at the American Cinematheque Aero Theatre, the 84-year-old legend took part in a Q&A afterwards.

During which, he unveiled his favourite ever role of all the characters he’s played over the years.

And it turns out it’s his Cuban drug lord Tony Montana from 1983’s Scarface, one of the most iconic film characters of all time.

According to Variety, Pacino shared: “Straight out, I just say nothing touches Scarface. And really the reason I feel that way is, I remember passing a movie house in Los Angeles, the Tiffany [West Hollywood] — it’s not there anymore — where they played all the old films, and they played Scarface [1931]. I saw it with my friends, and I went in because I’d heard about Howard Hawks’ Scarface, Paul Muni, who was in his time one of the greatest actors alive.”

Pacino added: “I said, 'I gotta do this film [Scarface] this performance is inspiring me so much.' So, I called [Marty Bregman], and I said, 'I think we’ve got a shot with Scarface.' 'Scarface?' He said. 'I’ve never seen it.' I said, 'Take a look.' So, probably that’s why: I feel responsible for it, you know? I felt personally that I caught that one.”
