Royal Family LIVE: Meghan double downs on major family change after awkward Netflix moment | Royal | News

Meghan Markle officially debuted her new last name in public for the first time this week after a host called her "Meghan Sussex" in a new TV appearance, just days following an awkward moment in her new Netflix show. The Duchess of Sussex appeared on the Drew Barrymore show on Thursday to promote With Love, Meghan and her brand As Ever, and the Hollywood actress publicly introduced her with her royal title as her last name. Although Prince Harry and Meghan can no longer use their HRH titles after they quit the Royal Family in 2020, they still retain their Sussex titles.

In her Netflix show, which has so far received mostly negative reviews, the duchess can be doubling down on her name after correcting her friend Mindy Kaling when she calls her by her maiden one - Meghan Markle. Meghan tells her: "It's so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know, I'm Sussex now. You have kids and you go ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ I didn't know how meaningful it would be to me but it just means so much to go 'This is our family name. Our little family name.'"
