New gaming collection will save video game collectors nearly £600 | Gaming | Entertainment

A couple of iconic PSOne era role-playing games are being re-released this week.

A must for retro gaming fans, Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars has a March 6 release date for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

The Suikoden collection contains the first two games in the series, complete with enhanced visuals and other quality of life upgrades. Available to pre-order now, the collection costs £44.99 on digital platforms such as the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop.

It's actually cheaper to purchase a physical copy, which is available at Argos for £40.99 on PlayStation, and the same price on Nintendo Switch.

Judging by the cost of the original games, there's a good chance the current-gen versions could increase in value as time goes in.

At the time of writing, the original Suikoden and its sequel are selling for a combined £595 at CEX. You can probably expect to pay more than £600 for sealed versions on sites like eBay.

Not only are you saving close to £600 by purchasing the modern remasters, but you may eventually be able to sell them for a profit when their value increases.

Whether you buy physical or digital, Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars is great value at £44.99 and well worth checking out.

Most people argue that the sequel is the superior game, although I've always liked the original more - probably because it was one of the first PSOne RPGs I owned.

Both games give players the ability to recruit dozens of characters to fight by your side in epic battles.

In addition to the classic turn-based combat most RPGs utilised at the time, the Suikoden games also feature large scale battle sequences.

Needless to say, the upcoming remasters also feature a ton of modern upgrades and improvements.

For starters, all background illustrations have been upgraded to HD - and they look great!

That's on top of other visuals effects that are said to "breathe new life into the pixel art animation".

Likewise, fans can expect new environmental sound effects, as well as an auto save feature and the ability to fast forward battles.
