Lemons are a staple in many kitchens and add a lot of flavour to dishes and drinks.

Turns out, lemon is also great to clean your home.

Popular TikToker Chantel Mila’s Home Tips, who boasts of an impressive 1.5 million followers, has shared five ways she uses them.

Her page @mama_mila_ shares how lemons can help ensure your home is spotless and smells heavenly.

Her “Five cleaning hacks using your used lemons” video proved a huge hit with followers.

One such trick involves a lemon and toothpaste which helps to brighten up and clean your washing machine - a daunting task in itself.

In the video she explains: “Place toothpaste on a lemon with the seeds removed and run in your washing machine to freshen and deodorise”.

The TikToker added that this effortless washing machine trick works well for your dishwasher.

By also removing the lemon seeds prior, you can simply add the lemon in your next wash cycle which works as an effective natural rinse aid.

The next tip from @mama_mila_ was using a lemon to remove soap and water stains in your bathroom.

In the video she explained: “Use a lemon to rid soap scum and hard water stains around your bathroom”.

All you need to do, she said, is simply rub the lemon on stains and then simply wipe it off with a towel for a complete transformation.

Tip number three is to use lemon for its ability to remove odours.

“Boil lemon and clove on your stovetop to rid cooking odours instantly,” explained @mama_mila_ with her favourite tip coming in at number five.

The TikToker’s favourite hack from a lemon was its use at ridding rust from stainless steel.

She explains that using a mix of lemon and baking soda will help remove the rust from the steel, effortlessly ensuring brighter and cleaner cutlery.

Her video proved a real hit with one follower saying: “Ohh I will be trying these for sure”.
