George Harrison loved a film so much he used character doll in Beatles meetings | Films | Entertainment

George Harrison was a huge fan and supporter of British comedy, so much so that he created a production company to get what became cult classics made.

Handmade Films were behind the likes of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Withnail and I.

Meanwhile, a fellow son of Liverpudlians, Mike Myers, created the Austin Powers movies, which the Quiet Beatle adored.

Sadly, he never got to see the third film, Goldmember, as he died before its release.

However, his final letter was to Myers on set, and it left the comedy star in tears.

Speaking previously with GQ, Myers shared: “I got this letter on that day [he died]. I cried like a baby, and it’s prominently displayed in my house. He says ‘…sitting here with my Dr Evil doll…I just wanted to let you know I’ve been looking all over Europe for a mini-you doll’. And he says ‘Dr. Evil says frickin’ but any good Scouser dad will tell you it’s actually ’friggin’ as in a ’four of fish and finger pie’, if you get my drift’. He said, ‘thanks for the movies, so much fun.'”

The Austin Powers star has also revealed how Harrison would use a Dr Evil doll in Beatles board meetings.

Speaking previously on The Late Show, Myers divulged: “When [George] was in meetings for the Beatles (because all the Beatles had to get together and have board meetings) he had lost his voice because he was ill. He had a Dr Evil doll and he would pull the cord and it would say ‘Why must I be surrounded by frickin’ idiots?’”.
