Oasis’ Noel Gallagher has named 57 of his favourite songs from The Beatles to Elvis | Music | Entertainment

As the main songwriter of Oasis, Noel Gallagher remains one of Britain's most iconic rock stars, best known for wildly successful hits like Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger.

The band, fronted by Noel's younger brother Liam and formed in their native Manchester, had a meteoric rise in the mid-90s, quickly becoming one of Britain's biggest-ever bands and famously playing to a total of 250,000 people across two nights at Knebworth Park in 1996.

The relationship between the two brothers has been notoriously fraught over the years, fuelling a heap of headlines, as well as public spats and cancelled gigs.

The band eventually split in 2009, with both Noel and Liam going on to have successful solo careers.

But in August last year, the group delighted fans by announcing that they would finally be reforming for a 2025 tour, prompting a renewed interest in their music, and a surge in listenership on Spotify.

Since their heyday, the Manchester band made no attempt to dispel comparisons with The Beatles, infusing their look and sound with constant nods to the Fab Four.

But Noel, who wrote all of Oasis' major hits, has been open about the wide range of influences on the band, with likes of 70s punk rockers the Sex Pistols and even Burt Bacharach making a mark on his style.

Far Out Magazine trawled through interviews and playlists to compile a list of Noel's favourite numbers. And while the presence of classics by The Stone Roses and The Who won't come as much surprise, there are also several unexpected inclusions.

You can listen to the playlist on Far Out's Spotify profile here.
