Moise Kean rushed to hospital after collapsing in scary incident | Football | Sport

Fiorentina star Moise Kean collapsed to the floor and had to be stretchered off in a scary incident during his side's Serie A clash with Verona. The club later confirmed Kean has suffered head trauma and is undergoing tests in hospital.

He felt faint in the second half after a collision involving three players, Kean, Pawel Dawidowicz and Diego Coppola, leaving the forward with a large gash on his eye.

He was patched up by the medical staff and returned to the fray moments later, but then fell to the floor in distressing scenes and was taken to hospital.

Having left the pitch in a neck brace, Kean has since regained consciousness according to EFE Deportes and has been sent for medical tests.

Players from both sides immediately signalled from the bench for a stretcher or an ambulance and was replaced by Nicolo Fagioli in the 67th minute.

Dawidowicz ran back towards his own goal to try and win the ball but his momentum propelled him into Kean, making contact with his head with the knee.

Kean, 24, managed a few sprints after the collision with Dawidowicz but then had to fall to the floor for treatment by the physios who were quick to the scene.

The former Everton striker appeared to be given oxygen before being placed in the back of an ambulance at the stadium.

It is the second such incident suffered by a Fiorentina player this season, after Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch and spent 12 days in hospital before being discharged with an internal defibrillator fitted.

Bove was watching from the stands after he was taken to the hospital by ambulance during a December match against Inter Milan.

Fiorentina fell to a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat in Verona, with substitute Antoine Bernede scoring the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

In a battle with Juventus for Europa League football next season, Thiago Motta's outfit can go seven points clear of their rivals if they win at Cagliari.
