Wheeler Dealers star admits ‘little leak’ in key part could lead to £200 bill

Speaking on a former episode of Wheeler Dealers, Marc said: “Taking a close look at the front grille too.

“This one’s known as a diamond grille but actually the same tip applies to pretty much any front-engined vehicle.

“Check it carefully for signs of damage because right at the front of the car, stones and debris can get flicked up off the road surface and go straight in here.

“If you do see signs of damage, get yourself a torch, pop the bonnet up and have a little look down behind.

“Right behind that grille is the radiator and you need to have a very careful look at that and look for signs of tiny little leaks that will probably show up the colour of rust or something like that.

“But if you do see one it could be expensive. A new radiator for something like this could be around £200.”

As well as visual checks, motorists may be able to identify a radiator leak when turning on the vehicle.

A high reading on the temperature gauge and the emergence of warning lights could signify an issue.

Meanwhile, puddles under a car or steam pouring out of the front of the radiator is also a sign of a possible issue.

According to ClickMechanic, motorists could pay anywhere between £10- and £500 to fix a leak in the coolant system.

However, they stressed the exact bill will likely depend on how early the leak is caught and the extent of damage picked up.

The type of vehicle motorists own could also be a factor with more expensive vehicles likely to have costly repair bills.
