Pancakes are fluffier and tastier if you ditch the frying pan and use an easier method

Nothing is better than waking up in the morning to a stack of pancakes, but they can be a hassle to make if you do not follow the right recipe.

Making pancakes in a frying pan may seem obvious, but it can limit the number you can make, so it can be time-consuming if you are cooking large batches for a family.

It can also be frustrating to clean the frying pan afterwards and deal with any batter dripping on the stove, as the splatter leftovers can take a while to scrub away.

However, Casey Major-Bunce, also known as the Queen of Hacks (@MajorMumHacks) has shared there is a better way to cook pancakes using her oven method.

She said: “School mornings can be a nightmare. They are super busy, and I don’t think any parent has the time to whip up a batch of pancakes, and if they do, they need an award.

“These take the stress away from those busy mornings. They don’t crumble, so they’re perfect on the move or once the kids are dressed. They are a firm favour in our house.”

Casey added: “I always use a pancake mix as it’s my favourite, and they always come out super soft, and they only take 14 to 16 minutes to bake and three minutes to whip up.”

Cooking pancakes in the oven may sound bizarre, but it is convenient as they can be made five days in advance as a quick yet delicious breakfast.

What is fantastic about this cooking method is that it is hands-free, leads to less mess, and makes pancakes much fluffier.

When pancakes are cooked in a frying pan, the heat is inconsistent, which can lead to the sides being burned and the middle remaining raw. However, the heat is able to surround the batter more evenly in the oven, so the pancakes rise better, resulting in a light and much more fluffy pancake.

How to cook pancakes in the oven

To begin, set your oven to 175C and grease a muffin tin with butter.

Next, you can make a simple pancake batter in a mixing bowl or you can use a pancake mixture if you prefer.

If you wish to make pancake batter, mix 100g of flour, two eggs, and 300 ml of milk in a bowl and whisk until smooth.

Then, fill the muffin tin halfway full with the pancake batter and place it in the oven. At this point, add any toppings you wish to the top.

Casey said: “You can pop whatever top you want on them such as strawberries, chocolate drops, peanut butter - whatever you like.”

Then place in the oven for 14 to 16 minutes or until the pancakes have fully risen. Once they come out, you will have a batch of delicious fluffy pancakes.
