Meghan Markle's discreet nod to Harry's love for the UK in new message | Royal | News![]() Meghan Markle delighted royal fans on Friday when she issued a new sweet message on social media to her husband Prince Harry for Valentine’s Day. While many were pleased to see a never-before-seen photograph of the couple out for dinner and sharing a kiss, others were moved by Meghan’s sweet caption on the Instagram post, in which she referred to the prince, 40, as “my love”. Although the photograph and caption is aimed at showing the love between the pair, Meghan, 43, also made a discreet nod to Harry’s love for his home country in the Valentine’s Day message by mentioning something very stereotypically British. Despite the fact Meghan, 43, and Harry quit life as senior royals in the UK in 2020 and opted to move across the pond to America, the prince has made it clear before that he will always love the UK as his home country. While Harry rarely returns to home soil, Meghan hinted in the new social media message that the prince still has a love of fish and chips - a classic British meal. The duchess wrote in the sweet post: “Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families. Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created. “My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever. Thank you for you.” While the prince may still have fond memories and feelings of the UK, he has shown no signs of wanting to return to British soil full-time since moving to Montecito, California, five years ago. Just last year, the duke said he was “grateful” to be raising his children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, in America, especially as he can enjoy certain opportunities he could not have in the UK as a result of his royal heritage. At The New York Times DealBook Online Summit last December, Harry said: "I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here. It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live. I feel as though it's the life that my mum wanted for me. To be able to do the things I'm able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn't be able to do in the UK — it's huge. That is a fantastic opportunity and I'm hugely grateful for that." While Harry and his family may never live in the UK permanently again, the duke is likely to continue visiting his home country. In his bombshell memoir Spare, released in 2023, Harry wrote: "I love my Mother Country, and I love my family, and I always will. “I just wish, at the second-darkest moment of my life, they’d both been there for me. And I believe they’ll look back one day and wish they had too.” Source link Posted: 2025-02-16 23:07:04 |
