UK snow maps show England, Scotland, and Wales hit by white barrage | Weather | News

Snow is set to hit areas across the UK at the end of this month, new forecasts predict.

New weather maps have flashed regions purple and white indicating barrages of snow due to impact these areas.

WX Charts maps, generated by Metdesk data, indicate that Wales, parts of Eastern England, and Scottish Highlands will be hammered by snow on February 28.

The icy front will kick in from as early as midnight on the day. In Wales, only parts of the south including Cardiff will avoid the downpour.

In England, East Anglia and parts of Lincolnshire near Skegness also show up white on the maps.

Scotland will handle most of the cold conditions with a signifcant part of the Highlands near Inverness expected to see wintry showers.

Across Scotland, areas will see depths of snow ranging between 1cm and a savage 13 cm in the upcoming blast.

As well as snow, the Met Office noted in its long range forecast for Friday, 21 February to Sunday, 2 March that other areas in the UK are expected to be hit with spells of rain, with those in the west and northern west due to have it the heaviest.

The service says that " Atlantic frontal systems" will hit across the UK bringing heavy and prolonged rain in " west and northwestern areas."

Whilst it may be too early for the Met Office to provide certain details regarding the weather conditions on February 28, the long range forecast provides a "general feel of the weather" and is updated every day. The agency also provides a detailed five day forecast.

The service is also warning of snow and rain in East Anglia and Lincolnshire heading into next week.

In a post on X, the forecaster said: "Rain is likely to turn to snow at times across parts of East Anglia this evening.

"Take extra care if you are planning to travel."
