New John Lennon documentary film on his final decade after Beatles gets trailer | Films | Entertainment

Alongside the upcoming John and Yoko, Beatles fans are getting another John Lennon documentary film in cinemas this year.

Borrowed Time: Lennon’s Last Decade follows the late star from The Beatles break-up in 1970 through his solo career and up to his tragic assassination in 1980 at just 40 years old.

From the director of It Was Fifty Years Ago Today… Sgt Pepper and Beyond, the new documentary features archive footage, previously unseen interviews and eyewitness accounts.

The official synopsis reads: “Follow the legend as he evolves beyond The Beatles, creating revolutionary music and standing at the forefront of anti-war protests that would make him one of the most influential pop culture icons of all time... for the first time ever, the full story of how John and Yoko met is revealed and watch as the curtain is lifted on the 1981 comeback tour that never came to be.”

Borrowed Time is the title of a song by John and Yoko from their last album Milk and Honey, which was released just a couple of months before his death. The film will “set the record straight on the truth behind many famous Lennon moments.”

Borrowed Time: Lennon’s Last Decade arrives in UK cinemas on May 2, 2025.
