iPhone 16 plummets in price as Apple launch imminent

Apple’s iPhone range currently consists of the iPhone 16 – which is the more affordable – and the iPhone 16 Pro, with more advanced features. A new iPhone could be added to the list next week, but strip out some of the features that make the iPhone 16 such a good choice.

There are a range of deals on the iPhone 16 which are worth exploring, with money off from a number of retailers.

For those wanting to grab the iPhone 16 on contract, then Sky Mobile is a top option. You can get the iPhone 16 (128GB) from as little as £24 a month with nothing upfront. This is a 36-month contract, but you can swap the phone after 24-months.

Once you’ve picked the colour you want you’ll need to pick a SIM card – which is available from £0. Yes, you can get a free SIM, but if you want a decent amount of data, the discounted 3GB plan is only £6 a month.

If you want to buy SIM free, then you can currently get the black iPhone 16 from as little as £739 on Amazon, saving £60 off the regular price. This is also cheaper than the other colour options, so it’s the best deal out there right now.

If you want the iPhone 16 in Pink, Teal or Ultramarine, then you’ll have to pay a little more, so Black is the safe option. The iPhone 16 has been slightly cheaper in the past, but only by £20.

If you’re after big storage, then the iPhone 16 with 512GB is where you want to go – and you can pick one up for £1049 and save yourself £50 at Argos. Argos also offers trade-in deals, so if you have an old phone to hand over, you could save even more – and Argos says this is the cheapest price it has ever been at the store.

But is this the right time to buy? That’s an important question, because there could be a new affordable iPhone coming. Apple has confirmed that it’s going to be hosting an event on 19 February where it’s going to be introducing “the newest member of the family”, thought to be the a new cheaper iPhone model.

While the iPhone SE – or iPhone 16e – is expected, this model is will make some cuts to achieve a lower price. You’re likely to miss out on the flagship experience you get from the iPhone 16. It could have a lower quality display and it’s likely to use the old style notch from previous iPhones rather than the latest Dynamic Island.

The cheaper iPhone is expected to lose a camera, so will have fewer photographic skills, so the iPhone 16 will be the better phone, even if it costs a little more.
