Back to the Future 4 – Creator Bob Gale has two words for fans waiting on sequel | Films | Entertainment

Hollywood legacy sequels, from Indiana Jones 5 to yet another Jurassic World 4, have become more common in recent years.

However, one trilogy in particular has never made a comeback to the big screen, and that’s Back to the Future.

Co-creator Bob Gale attended the Saturn Awards this week, where Back to the Future won the George Pal Memorial Award.

Accompanied by trilogy stars Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson, the writer-producer said: “I’m having the best third act of life that anybody could imagine.”

Gale continued: “People always say, well, ‘When are you guys going to do Back to the Future 4? And we say, ‘F*** you,’ you quote me on that! We made three terrific movies and people kept asking for more Back to the Future. So we made Back to the Future: The Musical … We’re taking it around the world.”

Gale previously told Daily Express that when people say they want Back to the Future 4, what they really mean is that they want to feel the same way they did when they first saw the original trilogy. And so he created the musical as a way to experience the first film again in a different light. The producer now has plans to open the stage production, which debuted in the West End four years ago, in Japan, Germany, Australia and on Royal Caribbean Cruises.

Nevertheless, Back to the Future trilogy director Robert Zemeckis wants to make a movie of the musical.
