One of the most underrated British thrillers is streaming on Netflix and Amazon | Films | Entertainment

Back in 2014, Yann Demange made his feature film directorial debut with an award-winning thriller.

Set in Northern Ireland, ’71 follows a British soldier separated from his unit during a riot in Belfast at the height of the Troubles.

Jack O’Connell stars in the lead role alongside Sean Harris, David Wilmot, Richard Dormer, Barry Keoghan, Paul Anderson and Charlie Murphy.

The critically acclaimed film has an impressive 96 per cent positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Written by Gregory Burke, the fictional story was shot in Lancashire, Sheffield, Leeds and Liverpool. Nominated for nine gongs at the British Independent Film Awards, Demange won Best Director.

’71 is now streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
