Urgent recall issued for frozen food favourite - 'do not eat' | UK | News

Packets of frozen garlic bread are being urgently recalled from customers over allergy fears.

A batch of Goodfella’s Stonebaked Thin Garlic Bread made by Birds Eye contained milk not listed on the label.

A Food Standards Agency notice said: “The garlic bread has been mispacked with a garlic bread that contains cheese.

“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”

Allergies to cow’s milk affect around 2-3% of babies, although most outgrow it during childhood.

It occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly identifies the milk as a threat. In serious cases, this can trigger anaphylaxis.

The affected packs have a batch code of 5020 and a best-before date of December 2025 and were sold in Co-op stores.

The FSA notice added: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk, do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

Goodfellas apologised for any inconvenience caused to customers but stressed that other batches and products were not affected.

In severe cases, even a tiny amount of milk can trigger an allergic reaction. Some sufferers, therefore, have to avoid all dairy products.

Symptoms can usually be relieved using antihistamines or an adrenaline auto-injector pen.
