Meghan Markle on verge of tears as she shares emotional new video | Royal | News

Meghan Markle has released an emotional new video on her Instagram following the devastating wildfires in LA. The Duchess of Sussex can be seen on the verge of tears as she talked about a young victim of the fires who she has since tried to help.

"I was just told that something arrived that I had been waiting for," Meghan begins, as she talks to the camera.

She then goes on to explain how she met a woman and her 15-year-old daughter, whose house had burned down, when she was in Altadena, California, with Prince Harry.

Meghan explains: "Her mum shared something with me and said that when they came back to see their house for the first time, which is as we were meeting them, that all that she'd been looking for in her home was the t-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had just gone to that she left in the washing machine or the dryer."

The former TV star explains how their home, the washing machine, and dryer mentioned, have now turned to ash.

Meghan goes on to explain how determined she was to assist the young girl and her mother. She gushes: "I thought of everybody that I knew and I made a voice note and I was like please can someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish."

Panning the camera around the room to showcase the signed merchandise and a lunch box from the singer, she adds "You guys, I don’t even know what all this stuff means, but it’s signed for her."

Meghan then signed off the video clip by thanking a number of people who helped make this happen.

She said: "Huge thank you, Billie Eilish. This is going to mean so much to her, and honestly to Adam Levine and Behati, you guys helped get this over the line to everyone who's showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what's happened in California.

"Just thank you so much. I'm going to go and email her mum now. Just wanted to share that with you guys."

Since the California wildfires, Prince Harry and Meghan have been working to support the Southern California communities impacted.

The couple have made donations through their Archewell Foundation to relief efforts, and have donated clothing, children’s items, and other essential supplies.

Harry and Meghan previously issued a statement and urgent plea for help on their website: "In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life."

The couple, who live in Montecito, California, also posted a series of links on their Sussex.com website to various charities people can help with, and urged people to "open their homes" to those evacuated.
