Man Utd: Ruben Amorim offers transfer update after Crystal Palace loss | Football | Sport

“We are trying everything to improve the team without doing the mistakes of the past," Amorim said after another dismal defeat. "We will see. There is one more day.”

United could be closing in on a forward acquisition, with Bayern Munich talent Mathys Tel reportedly preferring a move to Manchester over rivals Arsenal.

The 19-year-old publicly turned down a £50million move to Tottenham earlier in this week, while United have submitted a loan offer to the Bundesliga giants.

Bayern are not interested in a straight loan for one of their brightest prospects, however, and have rejected a loan approach. United will need to go back with at least an obligation to buy to convince them to part ways.

United unveiled their two new arrivals before taking on Palace, with Patrick Dorgu signing in a £29.4million deal from Lecce and youngster Ayden Heaven joining from Arsenal.

But Amorim has regularly lamented the options at his disposal, even going so far as to describe the current United team as "maybe the worst" in the 147-year history of the club.

If United are unable to stump up the cash for Tel, they could turn to Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku as an alternative. TalkSPORT claim that efforts will take place to sign the Bayern man, but if unsuccessful, Nkunku may be the next target.

With Joao Felix now unlikely to depart, the Blues are more open to letting Nkunku leave after struggling for playing time under Enzo Maresca.

They value the former Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig star at £60m but could yet leave on a loan deal in the final moments of the window.
