'I'm a cleaner – there are 7 things I'd never put in home'

A cleaning guru has shared her top tips on how to make sure your home is as clean as possible - and it includes not adding seven common items into your home.

CleanWithJ is a popular TikTok account with thousands of followers who love to learn all about cleaning tips and tricks on how to maintain a clean home.

In one post, Jennifer Garrett, who owns her own cleaning business, shared how avoiding adding seven common things into your home will save you from the frustrations of having to keep them clean.

"Seven things I would not have in my home as a professional cleaner," she stated before getting into her list.

"Starting off strong with silicone toilet brushes," Jennifer said. "It’s an absolute myth that they’re cleaner than normal toilet brushes you just need to keep on top of replacing normal ones. Silicone is so hard to clean with."

Staying on the bathroom theme, she also claimed black taps were 'the devil' due to how difficult they can be to keep clean.

"If you live in a hard water area, these are the devil. Limescale is so hard remove off of these, they’re only pretty until they’re used," she said, before going on to say that black furniture in general are difficult to keep clean, as dust shows up a lot more.

As for your kitchen, you should avoid using matte cupboards, with Jennifer arguing: "I cannot stress enough how hard these are to clean, any finger print or greasemark becomes so hard to remove if you don’t have the right cleaning products."

She would also not go anywhere near the popular Shark hoovers, either. The cleaner added: "I’m not a big fan, sorry if it’s an unpopular opinion but they’re too heavy and not flexible for me."

Big mirrors with black frames have become a big trend in recent years, much to Jennifer's dismay, who argued that dust often collects in the tiny crevasses of the frame, making it harder to clean.

Finally, Jennifer also argued against the popular waterfall taps. She said: "Limescale’s breeding ground! They’re soo hard to clean, I'd keep far far away."

People quickly took to the comments to ask for alternative solutions, with one person asking: "What hoover would you recommend ?? X" to which Jennifer replied: "I would always recommend the @Henry range, never do me wrong and have the best suction in the game!"

However, another user commented: "I will not stand for any Shark slander. Heavy but effective!" while a third person commented: "I'm a plumber, and it's insane how many people call and want the black faucets out after a few months of having them despite me warning them before hand."
