Tottenham 'make Garnacho approach' as Levy reacts to Tel rejection | Football | SportTottenham have approached Manchester United about the potential signing of Alejandro Garnacho, according to reports. Daniel Levy has reacted by making a late move for Garnacho, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, as he looks to give Ange Postecoglou the tools he needs to turn around their poor form. The Spurs supremo's efforts to sign Mathys Tel reportedly ended in failure on Friday after the Bayern Munich star opted to remain at the Allianz Arena. Levy had reportedly flown to Munich to thrash out the final details after agreeing a £50million fee with Bayern, but Tel decided against moving to England following talks with his family. Now the Daily Mail report that Spurs have submitted an enquiry about Garnacho's availability with the hope of landing the Argentina international. However, the report claims that it is 'unclear' whether Garnacho would be interested in a move to the capital so late in the transfer window. The winger has been in and out of the team since Ruben Amorim took charge in November, although the 39-year-old boss praised his change in attitude in recent training sessions. United have been willing to sell their academy graduate for around £60m to fund moves for Amorim's targets, with Patrick Dorgu set to sign in a £33m deal and other names on his shortlist. After agreeing a £50m fee for Tel, it appears Levy may need to stretch their finances again if they were to strike a deal with United. Postecoglou is desperate for reinforcements after dealing with an unprecedented injury crisis at the club, with 12 players sidelined at one stage. The Australian coach will be without Dominic Solanke for six weeks, while Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are all ruled out with lengthy injuries. While Son Heung-min has occupied the position in Garnacho's favoured spot as a left-sided attacker, the right flank remains up for grabs as Dejan Kulusevski has been moved into the three-man midfield. Garnacho has made 121 appearances for United since making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2022, having joined from Atletico Madrid in his adolescent years. Any Spurs move for the highly-rated attacker could be matched by Chelsea, who have been monitoring his situation in Manchester with a view to making a late offer below his £60m valuation. The Blues are looking to sign a new left winger after Mykhaylo Mudryk was provisionally suspended by the Football Association over a positive drug test. With Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho struggling for consistency, Garnacho is seen as a long-term solution to adding goals and assists to the team. Chelsea were also interested in Tel earlier in the window before cooling their interest, and it seems the two London rivals could battle it out if they firm up their interest in Garnacho.
