Chef says 'never throw away' peanut butter jar as she shares recipe

Finding innovative ways to repurpose items is far superior to needlessly discarding them.

This doesn't imply hoarding things without reason, but if an item can be utilised for something genuinely useful, then why not?

That's the rationale behind one chef's advice not to discard your empty peanut butter jar, as it can be transformed into a delicious and impressive ingredient that can enhance any dish you're preparing.

We've all experienced the frustration of scraping the remnants of peanut butter from a jar with a spoon or knife, only to throw it away when no more can be extracted, despite the fact there are still small amounts clinging to the jar. However, Carleigh Bodrug, who shares vegan recipes and lifestyle tips on her YouTube channel, advises against this wasteful practice.

Instead of consigning it to the recycling bin, Carleigh suggests adding a few more ingredients to create a peanut butter-based sauce. "You should add soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sriracha, fresh ginger and lime juice to the jar," she recommends.

"Give it a good shake to dislodge any remaining peanut butter, and voila, you have a perfect low-waste peanut sauce."

Carleigh's preferred way to serve this concoction is in a peanut noodle salad, which includes red cabbage, cilantro, cucumber, bell pepper, mint, carrot, green onion, tofu, noodles - and of course, the star of the show, the peanut butter-based sauce.

She elaborated: "It is loaded with so many veggies and is great for meal prep," she explained, emphasising the importance of ensuring that "nothing goes to waste". In the comments section, her efforts to be eco-friendly were met with applause.

One commenter exclaimed: "Yay to eliminating food waste! ! I think it's great that you're sharing recipes that will help the planet and people's wallets! " Another shared their personal experience: "I had a jar of almost gone peanut butter on my counter for so long in order to finally try this recipe. The sauce is so good! I made a similar salad to go with it. I used honey instead of maple syrup."

A different user expressed their gratitude for the unique suggestion: "This was the only short I found that didn't say to make overnight oats, protein shakes, or some dessert with the leftover peanut butter in the jar...which I appreciate!"

Meanwhile, another individual couldn't hide their enthusiasm for the dish, commenting: "So damn good," and revealing: "I have made it at least four times since seeing this video".
