The Nintendo Switch 2 release date may be a mystery until the upcoming Direct on April 2, but it looks like a fresh leak may have revealed new information about the console's price.

The bad news is that the Nintendo Switch 2 will almost certainly cost more than the original Switch at launch.

As a reminder, the Nintendo Switch launched with a £279.99 price tag back in 2017. The console cost $299 in the US and €329.99 in Europe.

The good news is that while the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost more than its predecessor, it's still cheaper than the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

According to a listing on Italian retail site GamesandMovies, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available for €364.99. With the retailer offering a price guarantee for pre-order customers who pay now, it seems unlikely that the official price tag should be pretty close to the current listing.

Based on current exchange rates, the Switch 2 could cost around £305 in the UK, and $379 in the US.

As a comparison, the PS5 is currently priced at £389.99 for the Digital Edition, and £479.99 for the Disc-based version.

The Xbox Series X, on the other hand, costs £429.99 for the White Digital Edition and £479.99 for the launch model.

If the Nintendo Switch 2 is capable of running the likes of Doom The Dark Ages and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as rumoured, then £305 seems like a pretty good price point.

Factor in Nintendo exclusives like The Legend of Zelda, Mario Kart and Metroid Prime, and it's a very appealing proposition.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is larger than the current model, featuring a bigger screen and JoyCons.

The JoyCons will reportedly utilise technology to eliminate stick drift, as well as magnets for connecting to the display.

Judging by the announcement trailer, the JoyCons can also be used like a mouse, meaning PC-style games should work better on the Switch 2.

The kickstand is also more flexible, giving users more viewing angles when playing in handheld mode.
