The newest addition to Burger King's menu has sparked a heated debate among customers due to its unconventional sweet and savoury combination.

It's undeniable that fast food chains have a loyal fan base. This can be both beneficial and challenging, as it's difficult to predict how fans will react when chains decide to revamp their menus and introduce new items.

Despite the uncertainty, Burger King has taken a bold step by introducing a new type of burger that replaces the traditional bun with something entirely different, leaving customers unsure how to react.

In December 2024, Burger King Ecuador teased the launch of its innovative new menu item: the Donut Burger, featuring a classic hamburger inside an iced ring doughnut bun.

On Instagram, they wrote (translated into English): "Too crazy to be true? Or just crazy enough for the King? " "A combination you didn't see coming! Try the Donut Burger and be one of the first to discover it."

After weeks of anticipation, the brand officially launched the sweet-and-savoury creation in January 2025, making it available nationwide across Ecuador.

The chain announced the new menu item on their Instagram page, saying: "A combo you didn't see coming! Try the Donut Burger and be one of the first to discover it. Do you dare to taste this unique taste?"

The announcement showcases the doughnut bun burger, combining Burger King's classic elements of a succulent beef patty, melted cheese, and crunchy bacon, creating an unconventional blend of sweet and salty for a distinctively indulgent taste adventure.

While the fast food giant appears thrilled about launching this novel culinary concoction, not everyone seems sold on the concept, sparking debate in the comments section.

One commentator blasted, "You can't serve this! It'll cause....DEATH," while another weighed in, "Keep playing with y'all health if y'all want to."

A third chimed in with a succinct "Heart attack burger," as someone else noted, "Looks so bad but sooooooo yummy."

Still, there were those who couldn't resist the temptation of such an avant-garde offering.

"Big back activity for sure! I wanna try it," a user exclaimed. An eager reply came from another: "Will they make an impossible version? Cause then I'm IN,"

"Gonna give it a shot, looks super delicious," said another, and a different user jubilantly proclaimed: "My dream came true. A flame broiled burger on a donut."
