Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wolves in a feisty encounter as both teams finished with 10 men at Molineux.

Mikel Arteta's side had dominated the first half and looked most likely to break the deadlock, before 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly was shown a straight red card for serious foul play on 43 minutes.

The visitors were incensed with the decision and used their frustration as fuel, picking up where they off in the second half to threaten the Wolves goal. Joao Gomes was also sent off with 70 minutes gone after a high challenge on Jurrien Timber earned him a second yellow.

And the winner came from the most unlikely of sources, as Riccardo Calafiori struck home on the half-volley to hand Arsenal a crucial win.

David Raya 8

The Spaniard didn't have much to do at all in the first 45 minutes. That changed when Arsenal went down to 10, but he carried out his duties professionally and pulled off a fine stop to deny Matheus Cunha. Excellent performance and deserved a clean sheet.

Jurrien Timber 7

Made a couple of important blocks in the early stages when Wolves threatened and should've probably been awarded a penalty after a pull of the shirt from Matt Doherty. Booked.

William Saliba 7

Had a fortunate escape when Pablo Sarabia fired over, as he was out of position. But the Frenchman held firm when his side went down to 10 men and kept Hwang Hee-chan in his back pocket.

Gabriel Magalhaes 7

Relatively untroubled in the first half, and slid one delicious ball through to Rice only for the chance to come to nothing. Stood tall when his side needed him at the back.

Myles Lewis-Skelly (sent off 43') 6

The very unfortunate victim of a simply awful refereeing decision and VAR review for his foul on Andre, for which he should've received a yellow card and nothing more. Let's just hope the lawmakers see sense and overturn his suspension.

Thomas Partey 6

Quiet first half, with Arsenal dominating the ball for the majority of it. Didn't really impose himself against Andre or Joao Gomes, who were much more involved for the hosts.

Declan Rice 7

Made his usual quota of surging runs through the midfield and led the team like a captain in the absence of skipper Martin Odegaard.

Ethan Nwaneri 5

With Odegaard absent, the 17-year-old was tasked with being the main creator in the side having just come back from injury. But the task looked too much for him and he was sacrificed at the break after Lewis-Skelly's injury.

Gabriel Martinelli 6

Looked lively playing further inside than perhaps he used to from the right flank, with the Brazilian always alert and willing to make runs in behind. But he struggled to provide a genuine goal threat as Agbadou had his number.

Leandro Trossard 6

The Belgian swung in an inch-perfect delivery for Havertz on his least preferred foot and it deserved an assist. Found it difficult to impact the game after that, though.

Kai Havertz 4

He might've have scored in Europe in midweek, but Havertz is still missing gilt-edged chances after failing to find the target with three point-blank headers. Simply has to do better with his finishing.

Riccardo Calafiori (on 46') 8

The Italian needed a big performance after losing his place to Lewis-Skelly and tried to make things happen from the left. His controlled strike with 74 minutes on the clock found the far corner, sparking huge celebrations on the bench. A huge moment for him.
