Man Utd news: Alejandro Garnacho 'picks between Chelsea and Napoli' | Football | Sport

Alejandro Garnacho reportedly favours a move to Chelsea over Napoli ahead of a potential exit from Manchester United this month. The Blues are said to be weighing up an opening offer for the winger after making checks on his availability.

United are willing to reluctantly listen to offers for Garnacho over the coming weeks. The Red Devils must sanction sales before they can make serious progress with overhauling Ruben Amorim’s struggling senior squad.

Garnacho is one of United’s most sellable assets as any fee received for the 20-year-old would constitute pure profit. He was signed from Atletico Madrid as a 16-year-old and United paid a small fee in compensation at the time.

It is claimed that Chelsea are ready to rival Napoli to the signing of Garnacho. However, they may get a free run at a deal if the Serie A outfit persuade Karim Adeyemi to join from Borussia Dortmund.

According to the Daily Telegraph, given the choice between Chelsea and Napoli, Garnacho would prefer a switch to Stamford Bridge. In the Blues’ favour is the fact that Garnacho would be joining his Argentina team-mate Enzo Fernandez.

United are reportedly insisting on a fee above £50m for Garnacho. The Red Devils will not accept player-exchange deals involving individuals they do not want.

Chelsea are said to have made contact over a possible deal for Garnacho and have checked on his availability. There is reportedly concern over the player's temperament but the Blues are still willing to negotiate a deal, with an opening offer expected to be made.

A move for Garnacho is understood to be fuelled by Chelsea's desire to strengthen their left-wing options. Mykhaylo Mudryk is provisionally suspended following a positive doping test. Christopher Nkunku has been linked with Bayern Munich, while Joao Felix is reportedly wanted by AC Milan.

Garnacho is United's top scorer across all competitions this season but only one of his eight goals have come during Amorim's 15 matches. He has featured in 641 minutes under the Portuguese coach - the equivalent of a little over seven games.

Question marks have been raised Garnacho's suitability to fit into the 3-4-2-1 formation that Amorim is keen to stick with despite poor results. Garnacho is an out-and-out winger who is at his best when taking on a full-back. However, the two positions behind the striker in United's current formation are positioned tucked inside and act as dual No. 10s.

It is claimed that the expectation outside of Old Trafford is that Garnacho will depart this month. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can complete a deal.
