Met Office issues new 11-hour warning as 8 regions brace | Weather | News

Drivers are being warned of difficult driving conditions overnight and for rush-hour on Wednesday after the Met Office issue multiple yellow warnings for fog.

Yellow warnings for the eyesight dulling weather have been issued for eight regions of the UK, with visibility dropping below 100m in some areas. The alert was put in place from midnight until 11am on Wednesday.

The warnings include areas of the East and West Midlands, North East England, North West England, Yorkshire and the Humber, Wales, South West Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

The yellow warnings mean the fog has a medium likelihood but a low impact. The Met Office warns: "Fog patches may cause some travel disruption.

"Slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible. There is a chance of delays or cancellations to flights."

The foggy conditions are expected to clear throughout the day on Wednesday, but the weather agency urged preparedness for travel delays in the morning.

The warnings read: "Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, leaving extra journey time, or amending plans if necessary.

"Make sure you know how to switch on your fog lights, and check they are working before setting off on your journey.

"Bus and train services, as well as flights and ferry travel may also be affected; check for updates from your travel company and follow their advice.

"Be prepared for weather warnings to change: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area."
