Millions gather in northern India for massive 6-week Hindu festival

Maha Kumbh Mela, or Great Pitcher Festival, is held every 12 years in the northern city of Prayagraj, as Hindus believe bathing in sacred rivers brings salvation from the cycle of birth and death, and the absolution of sins. Uttar Pradesh state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said 35 million people took part this week.
