Martin Brundle slams Elon Musk and threatens to quit social media | F1 | Sport

Martin Brundle launched into a sensational rant against X owner Elon Musk, threatening to quit the platform before talking himself around after reading the responses to his initial post.

The Sky Sports F1 co-commentator hit out at Musk for "interfering" after the outspoken businessman made a string of hateful X posts about prime minister Kier Starmer and safeguarding minister Jess Phillips.

Taking to X to voice his displeasure, Brundle posted: "I’m conflicted. I like Twitter/X and it has served F1, Sky, me, and people around me, very well for a good while. But @elonmusk is such a daily globally interfering d**k I feel the need to go somewhere else."

Brundle's post received an impassioned response from the F1 community, with fans and even three-time Grand Prix winner Heinz-Harald Frentzen taking to the comments to argue their positions on the matter.

The Brit came back later on Monday evening with an update, posting: "I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the diversity to my last post, including the negativity.

"That’s what keeps you alive and motivated, and in touch. I’ll stick with Tw*tter/X and keep my mind open. Opinions are like noses, everybody’s got one and they all count."

Brundle wasn't alone in his criticism of Musk, who has been increasingly vocal about the incumbent Labour government since cozying up to the Donald Trump administration.

Prime minister Kier Starmer also made his voice heard, telling the media: "Those that are spreading lies and misinformation as far and wide as possible, they're not interested in victims. They're interested in themselves.

"I enjoy the thrust of politics, the robust debate that we must have. But that's got to be based on facts and truth, not on lies. Not on those who are so desperate for attention that they're prepared to debase themselves and their country."
