'I'm a dog trainer - these are the three breeds I'd never own'

Dogs make the best companions and can provide people with unconditional love, comfort and joy.

Not only can dogs boost your mood, but they can also provide numerous health benefits, such as improving cholesterol levels, lowering blood pressure, and reducing stress and anxiety.

Some of the most popular dog breeds in the UK are Labrador Retrievers, Cockapoos, English Cocker Spaniels and French Bulldogs.

While everyone loves cuddling and playing with a fluffy dog, there are certain breeds that are more difficult than others.

1. Central Asian Shepherd

Central Asian Shepherds are working dogs that are both courageous, hard-working and protective.

The livestock guardian dog breed is traditionally used for guarding sheep and goat herds.

Garret said: "Also known as the Alabai, the males can get over 170 plus pounds, and they are great livestock guardians.

"Problem is, I don't have any livestock. Now, if you have livestock at home, then you might get this dog to help protect the flock."

2. Bloodhound

Second on Garret's list was the bloodhound. The bloodhound is a large scent hound that is bred for hunting deer, wild boar and rabbits.

The breed can track human scents over very long distances, whether they're new or days old. The breed is often used by law enforcement.

However, Garret said the breed has "oily skin", which can make them "stink". He said: "Now, the males can get up to 110 pounds, but it's not the size that concerns me. It's their oily skin.

"That oily skin makes them stink like no other dog. I don't care how many baths you give them; they just have a smell about them that's hard to get rid of."

3. Chihuahua

Third on the list was the Chihuahua. The Mexican dog breed is the smallest in the world and is known for being a "lap dog".

The breed is known for being quite yappy and will even challenge larger dogs. They're also difficult to train.

Garret said: "If I needed a three-pound demon from the underworld that served no other purpose than to sit on my lap and bite anything that comes within three feet range of me, then I would get a Chihuahua, but it'll be a hard pass for me on that one."
